grand opening....the posh brown boutique

so, i was telling you guys about the different projects i'd been working on during my absence here.  except, i never got into the actual specifics.  so, without further adieu, here is project number one.  let me introduce to you......... the posh brown boutique. 

yes, lovelies...i have begun my own online thrift/vintage store specializing in clothing & accessories.  the merchandise selection is based on the aesthetic of our fictitious muse, posh brown.  posh brown is a well spoken, outspoken individual who is not afraid to be seen or heard. posh brown is that girl you see and secretly envy because she is so effortlessly chic. her style can be best  described as a brooklyn-bred blair waldorf (a la gossip girl) meets debbie harry (a la blondie). 
i'm so excited about it.  the grand opening is this friday, 11-11-11 (a memorable date, i know).  on that date, there will be a discount code you can use for a 10-15%  off.  the boutique has a facebook page (the posh brown boutique fb) that you can "like" so you can keep up with the new pieces and other news.  also, there is a tumblr page dedicated to the style of posh brown(poshbrownboutique.tumblr.com).

where i was... (naples)



hi guys!  i am feeling relaxed and refreshed thanks to my south florida vacation.  the trip was quite amazing.  ninety degree sunny weather helps ALOT.  the intention was to do next to nothing (besides lounge and party).  mission accomplished!!  fantastic food and drinks (had a marvelous mango margarita that was to die for), dancing in the street and lazy days at the beach filled my time away. plus, i had the best company.  remember last time i hit the sunshine state?  i ended up doing a whole lot of shopping.  this time, i resisted the urge.  the exception was some cheap n chic jewelry shopping at this huge accessories shop on their 5th Avenue (naples, florida).  i didn't bring my lovely laptop so i was unable to really keep up with the blogging.  i did have a few posts in the queue, of course.  but there was so much i wanted to discuss with you: the royal wedding especially.  i've decided to post on the big event, even if its a bit after the fact.  anyway, back to the regular scheduled programming of my life.

mama gotta brand new bag

so, i convinced myself that i need a new signature bag (note: convincing myself that i need anything new isn't difficult). honestly though, i have a ton of bags but nothing that cost all that much money.  what eventually happens, of course, is that they begin to fall apart.  i wanted something that appeared more sophisticated, versatile and still my style. at first, i considered louis vuitton and dooney & bourke but, i couldn't bare to spend that kind of dough on a purse again(had a louis and a coach in the past and both were stolen).  determined,i continued searching for the right choice and came upon the tignanello line.  they had phenomenal choices that rivaled (and even surpassed) the previously mentioned lines.  i ended up choosing this one (photo) because it was classy, structured (great lining and studded bottom) and interesting.  it seemed like the perfect fit for me.  although i do love the red, i actually purchased it in a black, brown and grey suede.  the quality is superb while the price is quite reasonable ($100 on qvc).  can't wait to get my bag in the mail. here are a few others i liked:

lately, i've been completely addicted to shopping networks.  my mom is a dedicated fan, always flipping to her favorite stations to see whats being featured.  finally, i started clicking over myself and found myself headed over to the websites to order my great finds immediately before they sold out.  i think you'll be surprised at what kind of stylish, trendy pieces these channels offer.  as a matter of fact, many of your favorite celebrities and celebrity stylist have lines with qvc or hsn.  mary j. blige, joan rivers, jessica simpson, kardashians, twiggy, serena williams and susan lucci are just a few who choose to peddle their wares on these home shopping channels.  some of the frumpier looking choices may actually be some of your favorite pieces once you get them home and style them to your liking.  above you will see a cable knit sweater vest with faux fur collar.  it may not look like much there but by the time i cinch in that waist or add some great accessories, it will be gold.  plus, you can't beat shopping that presents itself at your door in a matter of a few short days.  and anything that doesn't fit or isn't to your liking, you can send back hasslefree.  below are a few qvc products that are on my wishlist.  many of them are from rachel zoe's fab line. B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

i finally made my way over to the new forever 21 time square store the other day. it was one of those grey and gloomy sundays where everything that can go wrong does go wrong. between subway delays that made me late and rude people working at the studio giving me attitude, i was unable to make my cardio dance class. so whats a girl to do? SHOP! i ventured over to the gigantic neon forever 21 sign like an angel following the bright light. and i was not disappointed with what i found. in fact, i was very impressed. the layout of the store was easy on the eye and spread out. no messy racks to scour through, no constantly bumping into people as you shop. there must have been at least three or four floors and all were organized beautifully. i felt like i was in retail heaven. the jewelry was magnificent, meeting any personal style requirements. the accessories were closet must haves, especially the purses/clutches. they had a fantastic make-up section with a variety of lovely eyelash kits. even the men's selection was worthwhile. it was way better than any other f21 or h&m that i've visited. the hubby will be happy, i'm sure.

needless to say, this forever 21 location brightened my dreary day. in the end, i fought off the temping wares and bought nothing. but i couldn't keep my mind off this perfect army fatigue bag i spied that was the perfect size for my life. so a week later, i went back and purchased it. i deserved it!!!!

what i see in nyc

hi guys! i had a great day today. i'm sure you can probably guess what activity kept me busy. walking around the city and shopping, of course. once again, i was able to find some fabulous deals. in need of some accessory replenishment (earrings, specifically), my accomplice and i made our way to nova ice in the village. this cute 2 by 2 store has variety, more than fair prices, and their stuff lasts as long as you need it to. i left nova ice with three pairs of earrings that flatter my mug. side note: in the image consulting class i just took recently, i learned a lot about what accessories go with whom. for instance, since i have an ovallish, round face, my choices should probably be ones that add angles and length to my face (that is, unless you are trying to emphasize the roundness). after a cheap, healthy and not to mention tasty dinner at dojo's, the hubby and i headed to soho where we came across a h&m. to be honest, anywhere one heads these days will lead you to an h&m. anyhow, once there, i couldn't resist the stylish clothes with the small pricetags. i bought a cute tee in a magnificent shade of turquoise, tealish blue for less than 5 bucks. i also scored a long tee in a fun, big leopard print for a measly $12. this shirt reminds me of wilma or pebbles from the flinstones. i also bought some pretty turquoise hanging earrings for less than $4. hubby found a pair of lighter denim straight leg jeans for $20. a quick dash to ricky's and to canal street (got there too late to find anything good) and we called it a day, a successful one, too.

we wear short shorts

this is the look of the summer for me. loose fitting short shorts in pretty prints. i found a blue with white polka dot short at h&m for $17 bucks. i also ordered some easy, breezy rompers from f21. the look is just so blazee blah cool, you know. comfortable and classy. pair it with a round toe 4inch heel or a pair of laidback flats. wear it with a cutesy blouse or a tank top. if you're the daring type, pair it with another pattern for the look du jour. anyway you do it, chances are you won't go wrong.
