the neon newbie

i'm usually a primary color kind of gal.  if i'm feeling rebellious, maybe i'll throw in a complementary color here and there (a green or purple), and then there's my staple black and white.  but one trend that has really intrigued me lately is the neon rage.  normally when i think of neon, i think of the aspects of the eighties era that i wasn't fond of.  yet, i've been noticing many fashion forward brethren rocking this style in a way that can only be described as cool and classy.  it inspired me to not only try the trend myself, but to incorporate a few pieces into the posh brown boutique.  above are various ways to include neon yellows and greens to your wardrobe that won't make you look crazy or like you're trying too hard.

beyonce is beyond beautiful......no breaking news here.  people magazine confirmed this by selecting her to be the most beautiful woman IN THE WORLD.  but..........the decision is just a bit too predictable, too cliche.  and the pictures (in my opinion) were too bland.  they did very little to showcase how stunning she truly is.  but wouldn't it have been refreshing to see a fresh and less conventional beauty on the cover with that title?  when writing this, i thought of a bevy of ladies who are beautiful and less....well, boring.  at first, i was going to showcase a bunch of them here.  however, i changed my mind and decided to settle on one phenomenal beauty.  kat dennings!!!
i have been mesmerized by this gorgeous gal for quite some time.  i think it began with 'nick & norah's infinite playlist.'  i only watched half of it but was still impressed.  (i recall ms. dennings on an infamous sex & the city episodes)  then i got to get a chance for a weekly dose of her when she signed on for the sitcom '2 broke girls.'  what i love about her besides her rare beauty (have you seen those eyes big as quarters and lips that many would sacrifice first borns for) is the intelligence and downtown sauciness she gives off in every role and interviews.  a wallflower, she is not. plus, kat has quite the bodacious body (another area where she could give bey a run for her millions).  she certainly does not fit the cookie cutter mold of what's pretty in hollywood.   nevertheless, i think kat dennings has just as strong a case for "most beautiful woman" as mrs. knowles-carter.  who would you choose for the title?

posh brown's newest muse is the amazing supermodel, kate moss.  no matter what her circumstances, ms. moss looks mah-velous, dah-ling!  kate can mix up her look from sophisticated lady to grungy girl to edgy rock princess without skipping a beat.  that is what a posh brown babe is all about.  so having kate moss be our current muse of the moment is a definite no brainer.

giving glamour...gossip girl style

i must admit...gossip girl is heating up.  the storylines in the recent past have been boring, predictable yet farfetched.  even the fashion took a bit of a dip.  but, after a rocky start, i'm staring to get back into the swing of things with blair, chuck and the gang.  and the clothes.........blair and serena have both been serving up style quite well.  even cousin charlie/ivy has given great ensembles.  did you see blair's dress for her wedding shower?!  lovely and fierce; classic blair bear.  looking forward to tonight's episode.  ciao...you know you love me xoxo

just finished watching the very last episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show.  i actually didn't cry but i was inspired.  this is not unusual after watching oprah.  like many, i've grown up watching oprah for most of my life.  i suppose i took her and her life lessons for granted.  now i understand what a void her departure is leaving.  this is especially so now that we have such an abundance for  trash tv.  anyhow, i wish her continued success in her future endeavors.  and, i hope that she continues to feed us those important a-ha moments.  ciao oprah!

the crimson beauty- met costume institute gala

so the met costume institute gala took place yesterday.  last year, i did a whole run down of the dresses i liked.  this year did not impress me much.  there were a few that i fancied, of course.  but i decided to narrow it down to the one that was the most stunning (in my humble opinion).  by now you have guessed its rihanna.  the currently crimson coiffed beauty donned a lace black stella mccartney with strappy louboutins.  the peek-a-boo sides and french braids give it that pizazz that makes the look so stellar.  simply put, rihanna fenty looks gorgeous!  below are a couple of runner up dresses i enjoyed:  ashley greene and diane kruger.

i showed you my spring inspiration a few posts ago.  you all that i was kidding, huh?  well, to make sure i'm on the right track, i purchased these gawg-eous sophisticated pants from asos.com.  after perusing their cooler than cool site, i'm convinced they are the next best thing.  i'll be doing a post on some dresses i'd sacrifice a digit for.  anyway, aren't these pants (at least the picture of them) the best?!  i've already begun composing outfits around them as well as events to wear them to.  what makes them so "me" is the bold royal blue color and the flattering cut.  kudos, asos!  let me know what you would pair them with...

someone who always comes through with killer visually stimulating videos is the talented gwen stefani (as well as the whole no doubt crew).  so, i thought i'd come back to the queen of style for video voyeur this week.  of course, i couldn't narrow it down to one so i chose a trifecta of stefani. all three are colorful and entertaining and have that gwen pananche she's now known for.
