hola, lovelies.  so....there have been a series of events, some fortunate...some not so much.  hence, my long hiatus.  i will be trying very hard to keep up with this blog.  i also was forced to pay very little attention to my lil' shop, the posh brown boutique.  that will certainly change...and soon! i do have new merchandise i can't wait to share with you all.  there will be a grand re-opening (of sorts) event and all kinds of goodies.  just wait and see.  just dipping my foot in...or maybe attempting to put my best foot forward (as the picture indicates).  see you soon!

so, here is posh brown style inspiration photo of the day.  (that's a mouthful)  i've always been a fan of the preppy look.  this is especially so when its combined with another major universal style like urban, boho or rock.  preppy pieces act as the agent that keeps an outfit from getting too outlandish, dressy or sexy. classic prep tends to lend an air of relaxed sophistication.  i would highly recommend adding a few sporty essentials to your reportoire.  i promise...these pieces will make the task of getting dressed a whole lot easier...stylish.

down with the kings of queens-run dmc

 

run dmc, the godfathers of rap.  it goes without saying we owe these pioneers so much for helping to bring hip hop music/culture into the mainstream.  they are also credited with showing that rap could be infused with any genre successfully(specifically rock).  i know you remember their hit with aerosmith, "walk this way."  for me and many others, run dmc are considered fashion icons.  all black everything (usually in leather), adidas with huge laces, gigantic gazelle glasses, heavy rope gold chains, bucket kangols and loads of badass attitude...what more could an impressionable lil' hip-hop loving girl in the 80s ask for?  unfortunately, during the earlier part of the decade, we lost the legendary dj, jam master jay.  despite that, these rap rebels remain tough as leather and in our nostalgic hearts forever. here are some essentials you'll need in your wardrobe in order to be down with the kings of queens.  keep an eye out for great accessories and clothing that meets the kings' criteria at http://theposhbrownboutique.bigcartel.com/

i just showed you vashtie's air jordans but i honestly feel these supras are more my taste (if i'm going to wear a sneaker).  in fact, i love almost all the kicks supra puts out for the fellas and the ladies.  what i'm not crazy about is the price.  something tells me that jordans are just as expensive, if not moreso.

clarks...the anthem for the summer as well as a great fashion choice. wasn't quite sure it was for me despite their current popularity. that was the case until i came across these slick shoes pictured above. those brown bad boys would do my fall wardrobe some good. after you're done ogling, check out the summer smash below...

F21 42

i finally made my way over to the new forever 21 time square store the other day. it was one of those grey and gloomy sundays where everything that can go wrong does go wrong. between subway delays that made me late and rude people working at the studio giving me attitude, i was unable to make my cardio dance class. so whats a girl to do? SHOP! i ventured over to the gigantic neon forever 21 sign like an angel following the bright light. and i was not disappointed with what i found. in fact, i was very impressed. the layout of the store was easy on the eye and spread out. no messy racks to scour through, no constantly bumping into people as you shop. there must have been at least three or four floors and all were organized beautifully. i felt like i was in retail heaven. the jewelry was magnificent, meeting any personal style requirements. the accessories were closet must haves, especially the purses/clutches. they had a fantastic make-up section with a variety of lovely eyelash kits. even the men's selection was worthwhile. it was way better than any other f21 or h&m that i've visited. the hubby will be happy, i'm sure.

needless to say, this forever 21 location brightened my dreary day. in the end, i fought off the temping wares and bought nothing. but i couldn't keep my mind off this perfect army fatigue bag i spied that was the perfect size for my life. so a week later, i went back and purchased it. i deserved it!!!!
