she wants to live the glamorous life...

i have so many thoughts that i'm not sure where to begin...well, here goes:
i will be flying south for the winter (at least for the rest of february). this is something i am really excited about. its an adventure for myself and my husband that i hope to enjoy. it will also give me a chance to explore my new year fashion resolutions. as you may recall, i promised to try a new hairstyle every week, experiment with my make-up and incorporate more dresses and skirts. (if you don't remember, check the archives "resolutions for my revolution.")
unfortunately, it is an impossible task when the weather is so brutal! a new hairstyle for what if my hair doesn't fit under a hat (which is quite the necessary acessory over in the empire state). consider a dress when the two pair of pants i'm wearing are barely keeping me warm?! i don't think so. however, despite the good excuses, i am a little disappointed in myself for not sticking to the plan.
however, i feel florida will be my second chance...its hot and we'll have a car (which is my other excuse for not wearing heels often, heels on the subway and these mean ny streets, uh uh!)
speaking of adventures, i came across a blog by this girl who is in search of glamour for the new year (adventures in glamour). began reading it and was instantly engrossed! i think we can all relate to her struggle. while i do empathize and relate to this dilemma and do agree that glamour is important in a many a girls' life, i do think that glamour is sometimes just an image. there are people we feel live a glamorous life at every moment, but something tells me this is not true of most. they look a mess when they wake up, perhaps drink juice out the carton, veg out on the couch from time to time ect. just like everyone else. what convinces me of this notion is figuring out what surprising perceptions people had of me. they imagine (based on appearance, my demeanor and/or their own fantasies)something much more fabulous than what i am. only my hubby, close family and friends have any idea of what my real life is like. as for this blogger, something tells me that she is glamorous already in her own right (but i applaud her quest). join her at http://adventuresinglamour.tumblr.com/ and tell her jenna sent you.

you want to bumble with the bee?

i love me some lil' kim!! you wanna bumble wit da bee, huh? those were the days, right? kimberly jones symbolized the female perspective and, in my opinion, epitomized strength. tell me you didn't feel powerful as you swayed back and forth with much machismo and estrogen, reciting the words to queen bitch or quiet storm. cute and petite but bigger than life, lil kim gave voice to a section of queens who weren't being addressed before. plus, she was shocking. you never knew what kimmie would do next. of course, just like life, things began to change. the changes made it hard to ignore the demons inside. at first, it made her more human. most of us could relate to being told we weren't good enough the way we were, that we did not measure up on society's scale of beauty. who couldn't relate to loving someone so much even though it was clear to everyone else he didn't think you were his number one? obviously, matters got out of hand and to anyone with eyes its easy to see things have gone too far. nevertheless, i love my lil' kimmie and always will. i just wish that she could see the beauty that we always saw in her from day one.

men i'm in the mood for...

your attention, ladies! lenny, sonny (maurice benard), chuck bass (ed westwick) and common! these stylish/sexy men certainly stir up the senses. if you don't know about sonny corinthos, then you need to immediately get up on your general hospital game. that show is the b-e-s-t!!!! sonny is just one of many sexy seducers on the show. i'm sure you've heard of the bad ass known as chuck bass, the slithering heartbreaker on gg who has matured quite nicely. lenny is a rocker who's rugged beauty should leave you speechless, that is if you're human. and common...well, i think the pic speaks for itself. hope you're enjoying this post at least half as much as i am. xoxo jenna pearle

frankly, my dear scarlett. black n white edition
the first time i came across scarlett johanssen was in 2001/2002 and she was barely famous. it was a GAP campaign for whatever new item (khaki, fleece, boyfriend jean...who knows?) they were promoting. i LOVED the name right away. and, there was something so appealing and down to earth about her. fast forward to today...and scarlett is one of my favorite celebrity people. gorgeous, curvacious, articulate and (it would appear) cool! what more could one ask for? talent?!!! thats not a necessity, unfortunately, in these celeb-obsessed days. however, scarlett has certainly got it. the last performance that had me smitten was "vicky cristina barcelona" which also finally made me come around to the beauty and talent of penelope cruz. so, i present to you another black n white feature, scarjo style. no, i take that back. scarlett johannsen style, because i love that name as well as the person.jenna pearle, of course
you give me butterflies

queen bee dub, the ultimate gossip girl

"miss blair waldorf...something to talk about"

ahhh, blair waldorf... the ambitious and manipulative bitch you've gotta love. as far as i'm concerned, blair is the bee's knees on one of my favorite shows, gossip girl. queen bee reigns supreme while battling her devilish inner demons and her insecurities. blessed with the best (and most consistent) wardrobe, blair gets IT right every single time. her outfits most definitely speak to her character. and now that she's coupled up with chuck (a snazzy fashion icon in his own rite), blair has only gotten better. so jump on the waldorf wagon and be sure to tune in to see what crazy shenanigans b. dub finds herself in from week to week. i'll def be watching...
you know u love her, xo xo jenna p
