leopard love

here are two different takes on how one can wear leopard print. scarlett wears it well with a tight black pencil skirt while riri rocks a double dose. i love the idea of red leopard print. however, always hard to please, i think i would love to see a combination of these two selections. for example, a better outfit would be the super sexy secretary blouse scarlett is wearing along with that skirt rihanna is wearing in red but in a pencil skirt format. hawwwt!

mane st.

i know i've been on a short hair binge the last couple of posts. so here are a few pics just to let you know i'm all in favor of long locks as well. as it so happens, my hair is fairly lengthy right now. first pic above is from suicideblonde.tumblr.com. thats michelle rodriguez looking absolutely stunning! the second is from melody's blog on tumblr as well. i hope to post about the fabulous melody e. very soon. i will tell you now she is in to very big (creative) things...

bajan beauty

i'm really enjoying rihanna lately. after a while, the album grew on me. plus, she just seems to be a sweet girl, despite everything. whether this image was constructed by the powers that be or not, i'm enjoying her style of music and clothing. so here are another couple of glamour shots of our bajan beauty...

faces of franco

i LIKE james franco. i liked him before i really understood who he was. i vaguely recall watching him as the villian you felt sorry for in the spiderman movies. then, i saw the fantastic film, milk (where he played the love interest of sean penn). i think it was around that time news circuits started discussing his attending nyu (or columbia? nah nyu) and the pics circulated of him sleeping in class. then, he was asked to do the commencement speech. thanks to netflix, i got to see the hilarious film pinapple express where franco did an amazing job. but it really all boiled down to general hospital. when do actors in their prime go play a longterm role on a soap opera? never! but franco took on the challenge playing a lovable lunatic wreaking havoc on poor port charles. thats when i really learned to appreciate the greatness of this renaissance man. since then, i've seen him in another funny flick date night and i'm eagerly awaiting his talent in the must read and now see movie Eat, Pray, Love. in addition, he will be hitting port charles again at the end of june. can't wait!

laws of attraction

one of the most attractive features about a man is the ability to maturely and lovingly commit to someone. just the other day, i caught common on wendy. apparently, he and serena are out of the closet with their relationship. i was impressed with what he had to say about her, himself at this stage and love in general. uhh hmmm! it doesn't hurt that he looks SO beautiful. the other attractive feature i enjoy concerning men is a great sense of personal style which all three of these gentlemen demonstrate. just lovely (hi lenny!)...

new look

*janet jackson*
applause for ms. jackson for freeing herself of her mane in this mad world wide web of weave. i've never seen anyone cut their hair and look worse (except for maybe felicity). if your face is pretty, it shows it off. if your face is "interesting", this gives you a lift. if your face is unfortunate, a cut gives you character and helps you own your look (not hide or shy away from it). there is a great cut for everyone, no matter what the shape of your face. so stop being so afraid. stop being a slave to your mane.

short hair don't care

haven't done a black n white photo edition in a while so i thought i would share these two lovely ladies. carey mulligan is too cute with her blonde pixie cut. watch out for her in the new "wall st" movie. the other vision of beauty is natalie portman. enjoy!

say it is so

if this is the real cover for vogue africa, if africa vogue really even exists, then i am pretty impressed. not only is she a curvy cutey, but she is one with traditional african features. these are the types of features that are rarely celebrated. to top it all off (no pun intended), there is no long weave to interfere with her gorgeous face. im guessing she may be a famous singer/actor/or other artist getting her well deserved shine on. but i would absolutely LOVE it if she were just a model there for her good looks. either way, passionista place celebrates this beautiful external.

BIG things

happy birthday shout outs to the notorious b.i.g. biggie, you don't know the joy you've brought to the world. he has played and continues to play an integral role in my life. beyond music, biggie seemed to be a funny, genuine person with a magnetic personality. obviously, quite the charmer judging by the loads of ladies who claimed him. rip and remember we'll always love big poppa!
happy birthday to my cuz, miryom (another lovely person, my hero who left us way too soon)

fabric of our lives

zooey deschanel for cotton (really love all of these ads, btw). this is also one of my style inspiration photos for this summer. i think i'm even going to get the bike although i have no room to store it in the apt. i'm liking short shorts with blouses and tee accompanied by light cardigans or blazers.

ethnically speaking

umm...you may want to incorporate a healthy dose of "ethnic" prints into your wardrobe pretty soon. this is a HUGE trend for the season but one that can be worn beyond the trend to represent some much needed diversity in fashion. if you're timid, take it slow with a printed purse or a pair of shorts with a plain shirt. if you're daring, try a strapless or body conscious dress. if you can find one, try a jumpsuit or a romper.
lately, i've come across a few designers who sell beautiful pieces made from authentic African cloth. as soon as i gather that information, i'll be sure to share it with you passionista(o)s. until then, feel free to check out and get inspired by the examples above.
