dr, king's dream, dead or alive
dr. king, i wonder what you would think of us today. there are so many fantastic and wonderful changes that one growing up in segregation could never ever imagine. man, you would be so proud. but at the same time, there are such horrible things happening, some so blatant, some so hidden, happening all the time. would that surprise you? would it disgust you like it does me? what would be your plan to address it all?
this day is designated to celebrate the legacy and the dream of dr. martin luther king jr. i plan to do just that and so should you.

the distinguished gentlemen
that's my commander-in-chief right there with one of the biggest actors of our time, george clooney. i can barely take all of this sexy sophistication. seriously, this is a pic taken at the white house when mr. clooney and President Obama met to discuss the crisis in sudan. philanthropy is a such a great thing. jump on the bandwagon, asap!

taking care of business

in case you've been on a retreat in tibet and haven't heard, wyclef jean is running for president of haiti. i applaud jean for not just talking about an issue but taking action. will he be a successful prez? i don't know but i'm hoping for the best for him and our beloved haiti. personal opinion time: if bush could "run" the US for eight years, i don't see why someone like wyclef (or me, haha) couldn't handle the responsibility. many had doubts about the relatively new on the scene barack obama and so far, he's handling it like a champ (given the circumstances). and what about schwarzenagger, ventura, reagan...it is clear that wyclef has a deep love for his mother country and that alone will get him through some tough times. good luck, wyclef and a major BOOOOOO! to all the naysayers fighting against you (ahem, cousin pras, like i care who you back in any election). here's a pic from the family fugee reunion a few years back. how gorgeous is ms. hill here?! toodles!

Thank You, Mr. President-blacknwhite edition

if you're not an obama fan or if you're fanatically opposed to the healthcare reform bill, then please ignore this post. ignore it because this entry's purpose is to express my grattitude towards President Barrack Obama for doing all he could to make sure everyone can be healthy without going broke. you already know how much i love people who stick to their beliefs, principles even when its not popular. to thine own self be true. president obama embodies that statement, in my opinion. today is suppose to be the day we find out the fate of healthcare. whatever happens, im proud to have a president who cares this much. hats off to the coolest, Pres. O.

plaid fad

plaid has been my friend for quite some time. there was my green plaid dress that i wore the first day of fifth grade with a new white tee and topsiders. of course, i donned quite a few pair in the nineties high school grunge/west coast rap days. to this day, plaid still has a special place in my heart as well as my chest of drawers. plaid adds great flavor to an outfit. a bit of snoop dogg edge, a bit of i don't give a damn tomboy, i bit of sweet sex appeal (think private school uniform a la spears). above are a few different ways to incorporate the plaid fad into your personal look.
ice cube (rocking plaid) and chris tucker from friday.

i'm lovin' it! first edition
there are SO many things to share with you and so little time to do it. my solution: consolidate! therefore, this post will be dedicated to a few of my favorite things...lately. where to begin.......
well i am truly lovin:
cute freckles

the twilight series has sucked me in (the novels)

hats with veils (so i don't give a damn chic)

oxford shooties

short haircuts (to be discussed further at another time)

barrack obama (specifically, on the cover of GQ mag)

and these are some things that have been bringing me joy! hope this post did the same for u.
