stay tuned...gilmore girls!

greetings, my lovelies! while reading one of my favorite mags, NYLON, i got an idea. well, an idea i already had was reinforced. they had their tv issue. so, i have decided to have a few posts dedicated to some of my favorite fashionable shows.
i have always wanted to be a wardrobe stylist for a delicious drama or funny sitcom. GG was one of the first fashion forward families i wanted to join. no, not Gossip Girl. im talking Gilmore Girls! Both ladies had a laid back, effortless look that many fans wanted to mimic. in fact, the entire town of Star's Hollow was eclectic. Luke made the trucker look sexy before Ashton. Michel was metro before Ryan S. sookie and Lane were fab. don't even get me started on Jess. his face, his look, his attitude...had me just as hooked as Rory seemed to be. but back to the lorelais, how can we join the gilmore gang, fashionwise?...stay tuned...
*cute cardigans- cardigans were a staple for the gilmores. sometimes used to give an outfit a burst of color, sometimes used to give a look a touch of conservative class.
*fantastic, chic coats- it seemed to almost always be winter in Stars Hollow. great backdrop for fabulous winter outfits. this included gorgeous coats in luxurious colors and cuts. gilmore girls always had beautiful knit hats, scarves and gloves.
*kiss- that is, keep it simple, stupid. gilmores know when to rock a regular ol' button down or cute tee with jeans.
*the all important wrap dress- when it was time to dress up, the go-to thing was the wrap dress. looks fantastic and creates curves.
so those are my tips. now you are prepared for friday night dinners with Emily or whomever.

Tired of Toning It Down---Going Clutch

sometimes, it gets tiresome trying to tone it down. doing what is "appropriate" can get a bit boring. so i say, live out loud! a bajan diva one said "life's a game but its not fair, i break the rules so i don't care!" couldn't agree more! therefore, i will dedicate a few posts to coloring outside the lines with fashione every once in a while. stop saving your best outfits and accessories for the BIG night out and wear it whenever.
for example, why not utilize your hot clutch bag that is on reserve for date nite/girls nite out and where it during the day to the bakery (or at least the museum)? if you don't have a cute clutch, go get one...now! Found some excellent ones at (drum roll, please) Strawberry's. i know you don't believe me but they look really elegant yet edgy. don't worry; i have pics to back this up. a bit more snobbish about where you get your clutch? well, check out the October issue of Lucky (pg 156) where they have a variety. i also recommend target (again).
either way, make sure you rock the daytime clutch and show these chicks that you gon' run this town today!!!

reminder- live out loud, ladies! xoxo jenna pearle

calling all frugalistas

frugal but fierce...

hello everyone! it is my favorite time of the year (in terms of fashion, anyway). September!!! the magazines are bulky and inspirational. the new styles are quickly emerging. people are back to taking their outfits seriously. no more summer slouching. our economic situation does not allow us to splurge like previous, carefree times. lucky for us, retail has taken this detail into consideration. target has come up with the term "frugalista" for dam$$sels in dollar distress. this year and last, i have taken advantage of this. comfortable but cute wedge boots make almost every outfit chic. they also have a bomber jacket in toffee that looks great (have to see it in person first before i fully endorse it).
grabbed a gorgeous eggplant blazer in corduroy from H&M for $40. gives a great silhouette! last but not least, dress barn had some amazing back to work clothes (i know, i was surprised, too). scored two fabulous pairs of heels (comfy ones) that make a passionista feel fierce (Tyra talk).

honorable mention: forever 21, street fairs, victoria's secret catalogue

fall cocktails

a must have for the fall... and just for your fabulous collection...(drum roll, please)...the cocktail ring!! i suggest having at least three to choose
from depending on the ensemble. the cocktail ring shows that you are
able to have fun, that you are a true diva, that you have character. Be
sure to choose options that flatter you and show your personality. i will
be in puruit of my own and promise to keep you posted...

ciao, jenna pearle
